PAE AEK commit to keeping the ball and LASK are waiting to break the moment they lose it.
Their midfield is picked for brains rather than legs — passers and thinkers, not runners.
“Η ΑΕΚ του Νίκολιτς δεν ποντάρει στα 6άρια για τα χαφ, αλλά στα 8άρια, αν όχι στα 8-10άρια. Δηλαδή, σε παίκτες «εγκεφαλικούς», που έχουν καλή τεχνική, τακτική και τοποθετήσεις.”Nikolic's AEK does not go for holding midfielders but for playmakers. That is, players who think, with good technique, tactical sense and positioning. our translation
The plan is to keep the ball, control the game, and squeeze you until you cannot breathe.
“στόχος φέτος είναι η καλύτερη κυκλοφορία, ο έλεγχος, η κυριαρχία και, εν τέλει, η άσκηση ασφυκτικής πίεσης του αντιπάλου από τους «εγκέφαλους» των χαφ προς τα άκρα και τον Γιόβιτς”the aim this year is better circulation, control, dominance and, in the end, suffocating pressure on the opponent, from the thinkers in midfield out to the wings and to Jovic our translation
At home they take the game over early and make the other side do the running. Expect long spells where LASK keep the ball and the opponent is pinned in their own half.
“Die Gastgeber übernahmen früh die Kontrolle und drängten die Grazer tief in deren Hälfte.”The hosts took control early and pushed Graz deep into their own half. our translation
The Austrian champions defend with three centre-backs and push the two wide men right up the pitch. Those wide men do both jobs: they fight in defence and they get forward.
“Beide bringen jeweils den für diese Position idealen Mix aus defensiver Kampfkraft und Offensivzug mit.”Both bring exactly the mix that is ideal for this position: defensive fighting power and attacking drive. our translation
Their two forwards are seriously quick. If a defender is caught square or one-on-one, they will be gone.
“Können Moses Usor und Samuel Adeniran tatsächlich gehalten werden, werden die beiden pfeilschnellen Stürmer auch heuer vielen Bundesliga-Verteidigern Albträume bereiten.”If Moses Usor and Samuel Adeniran really can be kept, the two lightning-quick forwards will again give many Bundesliga defenders nightmares this year. our translation
